Stoke Place is a country house in Stoke Poges in Buckinghamshire. ==History== The house was built for Patrick Lamb in 1690.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Stoke Place )〕 Field Marshal Sir George Howard acquired the house in 1764: he commissioned Stiff Leadbetter to add two wings to the house over the next few years and asked Capability Brown to create the gardens in 1771.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Parishes: Stoke Poges, A History of the County of Buckingham: Volume 3 (1925), )〕 In 1780 Anne Howard, the only surviving daughter of the field marshal, married General Richard Vyse and subsequent generations adopted the surname Howard-Vyse.〔 The house was passed down the Howard-Vyse family until, following the death Major General Sir Richard Howard-Vyse, it was sold to South Bucks District Council in 1963.〔 It is now a hotel operated by Tej and Sarina Dhillon.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Stoke Place )〕
